I also think it could be the gearbox slipping too however my local garage seem very relunctant to do anything about it...
It only happens for a few seconds, and the RPMs drops. Once its over it changes gear and runs back to normal...
I've taken in it to our local LV garage in Luton in the past but due to a number of bad experiences I dont really want to go there again...So I would be grateful if you could recommend someone/garage.
Once again thanks for your advice!!! The mystery will be solved.......eventually!

Yeah the Land Rover Dealer in Luton sucks BIG time I really wouldn't go there if at all possible, plus they'll just rip you off as well.
Sadly diagnosing a fault can be a pain and costly.
It might be worth a phone call or visit here:

It's a private run Land Rover Specialist. The own Mark Smith used to be the Service manage at Dunham & Haynes in Luton (the Land Rover dealership before they where bought out by the current owner).
He is very helpful and very knowledgeable.

He is based only just down the A6 about 15mins from Luton, if you know the area you just need to head up the A6 from Luton towards Bedford, at the Clophill round-about (there's a Beefeater there - The Flying Horse I think) turn left towards Ampthill. About a 100 yards down turn right. Follow the road round a tight left hand bend about 50 yards ahead, just as you come out of the bend there is a dirt track/yard entrance on your right. Woodside gagrage should have a sign there. Just follow the track down to the bottom and he should be on your left the last unit in the yard.
