Well the alternator was not needed, why would you replace it, did you have iy tested?
How many miles on your truck, do you have a check engine light, have you checked the draw from the fuel pump, how about the fuel pump relay and the fuel filter.
Have you checked to make sure you have fuel pressure and how about spark?
