As a 12 yr Colorado resident now back on the east coast, I can tell you that you will love Colorado. I miss it.
I like living in VA but Colorado is just a better place to live: fewer people, less crime, more open land, less hassle by gov't & police, and better weather. Drawbacks are fewer boating & fishing opportunities and no beach (if you care about that).
Plus, it's a four wheeler's paradise with more trails than you could hit in any one season. Have fun !
