The water hasen't soaked into the filter, it's just the chunks of mud that find their way onto the filter makes it a real PITA to clean after every time. But I will use the open air element intake for use of stret driving, and then easily slap on the box and paper filter (maybe with Fram's Air Hog filter) on there for trail use.
Another update with that splash guard...if anything it does restrict air...so DON'T MAKE ONE. I noticed my freeway mileage sucked majorly last night, and so today I cut off the panel that is next to the coil and power steering pump reservoir. I dunno if it helped, but we will see.
Geo, my hood has rusted severely on the front lip and destroyed the latching mechanism so I use ratchet straps for now and a hood bra to hold the hood down.
After MRM I have to jump on the boat and get a hood, Paul Grant is a possibility.
