Speakers that work/then dont work normally have connection related problems.This is the easiest way to test if the speaker or the wiring is the problem. NB - TURN THE HEAD UNIT OFF WHILE TESTING. Take a 1.5v AA battery and connect wires to + and - poles (or just hold it between thumb and forefinger). Then using the other ends of the wires test across the speaker terminals (polarity not important). If you hear a scratchy sound every time you touch the terminal, the speaker is fine. If not, bin the speaker. Once you have stablished the speaker is OK, use the same method to trace the path of the speaker wire back to the output from the headunit, i.e. every time you find a connection use your AA batt to check. The moment you dont hear the scratchy noise, it means the wire in between there and your previous testing point is faulty. Replace wiring and test again etc. The above is also a quick way of identifying L&R and F&B speakers if you are doing an installation.
