Ok, a wild thought.....

I was reading a post about the tach giving problems as evidence the alternator has problems. Ok, well the PO put a new alternator on it, citing loss of power and other things. No mention of electronics cutting out from what I remember though. Well, my tach when I would start it, would jump up and down for a min, before settling into place. Ok, no biggie, well, I also changed my water pump last weekend, and I had to move my alternator around. I noticed that my alt, is pretty close to the valve cover, and it is touching it in some areas. Could my voltage regulator have problems, or could it be getting too hot, since it is touching the vlave cover? Or a grounding problem.
