If it is a CV joint. I have a page on my site about what you're in for.
If the clunk is just once while you are turning is probably a tie rod or pitman like the guys say above. If it clunks and makes a sorta grinding noise. It's likely you are in need of a CV joint. You don't want to wait on any of these.
