The wider the tyre the more power it will pull from the motor and the worse your fuel economy will be. Wider tyres are better for sand, soft mud and snow, where you want to float on top. Narrow tyres are better for slippery clay surfaces, etc where you want to dig in a bit. If you are staying with all-terrain or mud terrain tyres, I would not go wider than 255.
A body lift is always preferable to a spring lift in regard to fitting taller tyres.
