A 305 should be as tall as a 285, just wider. A 285 is the rough equivilant of a 33/11.50, the 305 is the rough equivilant of a 33/12.50 (though in reality both measure slightly under 33" high)

I think that on a DI, you'll find the 285 plenty wide. With stock wheels you'll also have some rubbing on turns. With a DI, you'll also have to do some trimming of the rear quarters.
