Fuel Filter Fittings
After just recently decarbonizing the fuel injectors on the truck, I decided to also replace the fuel filter for increased results and to make better fuel flow for the truck.
I did a fuel pressure test on the truck and in the Key On, Engine Off (KOEO) test, the test results were just satisfactory +/- 1 psi. So it was time anyways to replace the fuel filter. This would also create less strain on the fuel pump for it to have better flow and less restriction.
I took the back passenger tire off for better access. Got the right size wrenches, however I could not get line wrenches on there...it was impossible. Before I did the decarbonizer, I knew it would be best to shoot the filter fittings with some PB Blaster to break them loose a bit. That did not work. I had several guys help me with the damn fittings, but no go. The filter is pretty much frozen on there. I had common sense to know also that heating any kind of threads would help break them loose. I also had the common sense to know that behind these threaded fittings is some good 93 octane fuel....LMAO.. so of course cannot use heat here.
What is my next move? I would really like to get this old filter off for the better of the entire fuel system.
Thanks guys.
