Not the brakes. The are off when your foot is off the pedal. There is a pin in the transmission that holds the rig in place when in Park. Do you use the parking brake?

There is some slop in your drivetrain (normal) but if you're noticing it increase there could be something loosening up. I'm sure someone smarter than me will tell you exactly what.
