From your knowlege, would you say the first Rhino was in a charging stance?
Glad you like the pics, thanks

Not in a charging stance, no. It does look very nervous though and about to turn away and run. This would be typical for white rhino, they aren't aggressive usually. But they are all individuals If it had become more nervous, it would have turned very quickly away and pivoted right around to face you head on and you'd have seen it was "balanced" for fight or flight. A move towards from where you were may have triggered that and a possible charge if you still showed "agression" yourself.

White rhinos tend to be gregarious and used to others around them, so they are quite docile unless you actually poke it with a sharp stick

It's the black rhino that's the agressive one, a lot rarer and a bit smaller. But they are the dangerous one and give the rhino it's reputation as bad tempered and highly dangerous. Even they won't attack unless you come within 3 miles of them.

You can tell which one's which easily, as they are exactly the same colour grey in the area you see them. The white rhino has that square mouth and is a grazer. The black rhino has a pointed upper lip and is a browser, usually solitary and likes it that way, so reacts quite agressively towards interlopers.

Here's a black rhino
