It really doesn't matter because most state's title only give you a choicee to certify the milage "Shown" is either correct, out of mechanical limits (like an old 5 digit odometer on a car that's gone over 100k, or statinmg that "TMU" True milage unknown. Even having the old speedo as backup, you won't be able to state that the milage shown is correct. Service will just put down on your bill what the new odometer shows. If and when you were to sell the truck, it's a good thing to have, but equally, the potential buyer can negate that by saying 'how do I know that old busted speedo came from this truck?'
The good news is if you decided to sell the truck, milage isn't as much an issue as condition. Just be sure you clean out all the empty Jack bottles and beer cans.
