I have a left hand drive 99 4.6 Rover and got some water on my passenger side a few days ago. The water was a bit oily. It was oily enough not to just wipe off but I could wash it off with water. Not sure if something I was carrying leaked a bit but the side was pretty soaked in today. I checked the AC drain today and it was clear so I am assuming it is the heater o-rings also.

My question is about the heater sensor that everyone say to replace at the same time. Today my temperature gauge on my dash cluster pegged out and the little red light came on along with the testbook on my HVAC unit. Would this be caused by that heater sensor or would that be another sensor?

If this helps with a bit more info, my heater was on when it was doing it. My engine was not overheating, it was just reading wrong.
