You should be able to keep the Series front and fit the V8. The stock tranny will work (not sure about an adaptor, would need to check).
The other option would be to cut down the Range Rover chassis to 88" add a rear series crossmember and the Series body panels. You could then have a V8 powered Series with coil springs, wider track, better axles and power steering.
