I can't help you on the position of the number 1 spark plug wire on the distributor but I would ask what plugs and wires did you install, Understand you have crossed the wires, just wondering about the plug and the correct heat range.
By the way, when you get this fixed, change out your fuel filter, most forget them and they are important and do plug up.
