In Australia - it will be the exceptionally poor resale value - the car will be overpriced for Australian tastes as Landrover wants to target the BMW X3 but the buying public sees the freelander in the X-trail, Rav, forester class and as such considers them over priced (there has not been one sale of a new current Freelander in Aust in 2007).
The current Freelander has a poor reputation for reliability and even if the new model is great it is going to take a long time to live that poor reputation down.
I too, would like a new Freelander to replace my XEDi but I am not prepared to loose so much money with poor resale value.
Sell me yours when you go to trade it in
- I will give a good price
Enjoy your new car but keep it a long time.
