Ok now we know the problem,dont worry about overrevving the old 2.25 you cant the pump will limit upper rpm limit,the trouble with old series motors and 2.25 diesels is the lack of soundproofing this gives the impression that the engine is screaming due to the amount of noise and vibration caused by the old oil burner.
These engines will rev hard all day long with no problems they will only rev to around 4000 rpm anyway my advice would be to concentrate on sound proofing concentrating on bonnet (hood),bulkhead,gearbox tunnel,inner wings,seat box and door panels.
good oil is the key with the old lump but nowt modern they dont like it keep it simple (cheapo mineral oil is the best changed every 3000) find the cheapest oil you can get your hands on as it will be to a lower spec than the expensive stuff,dont try running a 1950s engine with thin modern oil it just doesnt do the job in an old motor
