Unhappy K Series head gasket problem

My freelander 01 has a head gasket problem and it needs to be replaced. I read in so many forum that it seems like it is a very common problem with freelander. Does the landrover have overcome this head gasket problem or we just need to replace it every now and then? Is there a better non-rover part to get rid of this gasket problem for good? Well if none how do I need to do to keep this problem away?
