Both wheelbases have they're advantages and disadvantages-
The 90 is by far the better off-road performer. They have a shorter rear-overhang, and have more ground-clearance when it comes to the over-ramp angle. They are also more nimble, allowing them to get round tight turns without needing to take another 'bite' like a LWB. They are also that little bit faster and/or economical.
The big disadvantage is the lack of load-space. For all the reputation as a heavy-duty working vehicle, you can't carry much in the back of a 90. A 7-seater is only fit for 7 people on short journeys, and even then only if they don't have luggage. You can just about squeeze a bicycle in the back of a 90.
110s are much more practicle from a load-space view. A Hard Top will carry almost anything, and if you get a Station Wagon you can carry 10/12 people and its not too much of a squeeze. Off-road in mud, sand, ruts, etc. they are just as good as a 90, loosing out only in very bumpy, rocky terrain. You also lose a bit of available power as you have the same engine lugging more weight.
On-road, the 110 has the better ride quality- more like an early Range Rover. They are more stable when towing and have a longer range before you need to fill up the tank. The 90 has a rather see-saw ride on anything but a very smooth surface, and there's quite a bit of body roll as well.
I've always found the 110 to have better visibity as well. The rear side-doors are positioned much better for looking out of when emerging from junction, moving lanes etc. than a thick 'pillars' between the doors and the windows on a 90- but that's just for me.
I think that's it
