I just went through this very thing with my '92. What I had to do to get the door open was remove the drivers seat via the back seat and carefully remove the door panel from the inside (complete pain in the @ss as I had to do it 3 times). What happened on mine was the rod was twisting at the interior door handle and the springs on the latch were not strong enough to retract it back. I cleaned and re-lubed to no avail. I eventually just replaced the latch and it works like a champ now. The latch is a GM unit.
