The "K" rating does not have anything to do with brightness. The higher the number the lower the light output, but not noticeable. It is to do with the colour spectrum of the globe. 8,000K is getting near a purple colour, where around 5,000K is the clour of natural daylight. But I suppose it is about the look you are going for.
