How can Anyone possibly diag a noise without hearing it? Do you think a Rod knock is going to be described differently then pre-ignition? Maybe his distributor is stuck and not advancing...That will cause a knock under load. If it is....He sure wasted time taking off the pan and pulling off a bearing cap....

Or, maybe he just got a tank of shitty gas.... Droping his pan isnt goign to determine that.

Or, maybe its something belt driven.

Or maybe a torque convertor bolt came off and its rattling around the flywheel (Seen it)

It he hunts down our best guesses wihtout hearing it, he is going to waste time,confidence in himself and money. Why not take it in and have it indentified quickly by someone who can do it?

This isnt how you ran your shop, is it?
