if the engine pressure is low at idle make sure the belt is correct, secondly, take off the pan and really clean out the intake really well.
to properly tell what the rings or cylinders are like you have to use a compression tester with a guage hooked to it tell you how much leakdown you have and then shoot some air into the cylinder and listen for the noise.
its a leakdown tester. really expensive and you need shop air as well.
