Process for importing a 2007 Defender
Has anyone ever imported one of these to the U.S. and successfully put it on the road (as in with a valid tag)? I would be buying the vehicle outright and I would have the title in my possession. I would be purchasing the vehicle new in the UK and I would use a private shipping company to ship the vehicle to the United States. However, the vehicle does not meet the necessary requirements for the USA. I would therefore, have to have the vehicle modified to meet U.S. regs. I understand this would be an expensive project.
I do not know which company I would utilize to modify the vehicle at this time, nor do I know for sure that this is even an option.
I welcome ideas from anyone who feels they have some information they would like to share that might be beneficial to me.
