I dont know what the difference is but i know that the stock rims from my 77 had tubes in them orginally, but then i mounted BFG Trac Edges with out tubes and they held air fine.

I had another set put on that were locally made at a LR place in Harare. No problems since 2003.

When i was in Africa they were putting inner tubes in almost all the tires, they were even on my 91 Disco.

Would be nice to know.
