Default 4.6 conversion

I got a 95 Range Rover County LWB- Black- Southern Car- 115k miles- new tires, alternator, drive belt, exhaust, transfer case isn't locked- at auction. The one negative is that the engine is shot (I believe). So I want to have it converted to a 4.6. Does anyone know where I can get a reman/brand new 4.6? I saw a brand new 4.6 short go for $1800 on eBay so I have a hard time paying $4200.

Also, I'll be having the conversion done for me at an independent Rover mechanic, so no installation to worry about, but can I use a long block if the shop changes the cam to one with the distributor gear on it? So far, I've heard that the only difference between them is that the 4.6 camshaft has no gear to drive the distributor.

Thanks

PS Anyone interested in a 4.2 with 115k miles- blown head gasket (?) and a knock that is loud on startup then practically disappears after 1-2 minutes?
