I remember reading an artical several years ago in one of the UK rags about this. I have heard it said that the improvements in CUX over CU (US versions) were better mapping, cleaner injector cutoff, cold start improvement (not making it start better when cold, but contolling the mixture better when cold)
Without going out and looking at each, side by side, I think they are plug compatible. It will take a few start and drive cycles for the new ECU to get comfy with your sensors. Might have to fiddle with the base idle. If nothing more, I think the package is more durable. Unless one falls in your lap cheap, you're not going to recoup any big outlay of cash.
