I can help answer any questions pertaining to Headliner & Sunroof Repair. This is our full time job; some of our Customers: Landrover Orlando-past 16 years – Florida Landrover club dot com - Merritt Island Landrover Jaguar.
Several issues related to water leaks on the Series I-II
Series I-II Sunroofs only have 2 forward Drain Tubes
All others Rangerover, Sports, Freelander etc.. Have 4 Drain Tubes
#1) We have found that in many cases the drain tube connection at the lower tub assemblies behind the Headliner Board breaks off due to heat and water showers in on the back of the headliner Board. This part is made of plastic and is factory installed only with black silicon.
#2) in some cases you can get by with replacing the Sunroof Seal between the Glass in the plastic Housing when you can see light looking from the inside out.
#3) We also have found that the medal roof is warped and the sunroof is unable to seat properly.Sometimes a body Shop is required to resolve this problem.
#4) debris between the Glass & the Seal
#5) but in most cases it’s really related to the Exterior Plastic Trim Ring, NOT THE Rubber seal between the Glass & the sunroof.
The Exterior Plastic Trim Ring with age warps’ from the heat and now you will find the glass is un-able to seat with the rubber seal and the actual sunroof because the Plastic Trim Ring is Twisted and the glass is not able to lay flush with the Roof.
In some cases you can remove the sunroof and install a used exterior plastic trim ring and get by, it some cases after spending endless hours and Money and quick fixes you will find only replacing the unit with a new Wabasto Sunroof will resolve your dilemma.
Let me know how I can help!
