There are a lot of shops around that will and can do it. As far as cost, it can really vary. $15k-25 for a conversion..... from what I have seen. You can get a disco-I with a bad engine for $1500, but the problem you run into is regardless of the cost for the coversion you run into many "other" things that end of having to be fixed.
As far as my conversion, I was lucky enough to have someone else spend a silly amount of money for the work done on my truck.....I "stole" it.
It was sold after someone dumped a shitload of cash into it then got busted for fraud or something along those lines. I lucked out.
