I think you're right, or closer to the truth than I was. I couldn't find any info on the Rover or Buick V-8's oil sender threshold, but I did find the value printed in my Olds Custom Cruiser's repair manual. The Olds Rocket V-8's oil pressure warning light comes on at 5 psi. Yeah, different engines, but they were both developed by GM by the same generation of engineers. My Olds also has the optional oil pressure gauge and its red line is at 5 psi too. That makes a 2 psi or 5 psi minimum threshold extremely likely for the Rover V-8, despite the changes by the Leyland engineers over the years.
