Yup spot on there! Not everywhere has trees or handy boulders to winch from. Yes you can winch off another vehicle, but that's is only if you are trying to go backwards or if the other vehicle made it through where you couldn't!
Up here in Wales there are plenty of places where there is nothing but peat bog and heather! Nowt to winch off for miles! This is when a ground anchor is a damned useful bit of kit. Bit like in the desert or like you in Florida.
Have any of you thought about making your own? they aren't that hard to do and you'd save yourself some hard earned!
