Default Leaking Coolant Mystery

Classic Gurus,

I've removed the steering pump to get a better look at my water pump area.

I've located the coolant leak. When I pour coolant into the expansion tank (motor not running), it fairly immediately leaks out of a small hole in the gasket between the "top cover" and the engine block!

Any clues on how this could be possible and how I should proceed?

Thanks,

ChamplainRover
