I have a Borla exhaust on a 1995 LWB, and it sounds OK. Everybody complains about it droning on the highway, though. My 1987 just has the rear muffler off of the tailpipe, and has only the centre muffler, and it doesn't sound too much different from the Borla. The 40 series Flowmasters are really loud, in my opinion. The 70 series don't sound too bad, though. Whatever you do, you shouldn't expect big block sound from the Rover engine. They just sound too smooth. I suppose if you installed a pretty radical cam, you might get something a little different, but I have a 4.0 block with a pretty decent cam in a Classic, and it still sounds pretty normal. I would guess that you will end up with some version of Flowmaster, given what you are looking for, if I was betting on it.
