Default Synchromesh

I have read from various sources that using Synchromesh instead of dexlll gets rid of an abrupt or harsh shift. mine jumps into gear a bit and i am thinking about trying it, the gm part number on the synchromesh is also listed on quakerstate and pennzoil and texaco synchromesh. is it all the same stuff? the genuine gm stuff is about 13 bucks a quart. the texaco is about half that i looked at the product data sheet and it all looks comparable. has anyone tried this stuff.
