There have been several pictures in the UK rags showing rear winches sunk below floor level. Essentially they build a box using sheet alumin(i)um, and anglestock, and mount the fairlead flush to the rear crossmember. Synthetic line and a hawser fairlead would be even cleaner yet.
Is that switch a solid state device? I had thought of using some high current SCRs to do the same thing, but the ones I had needed a higher voltage to the gate than 12 volts, and those suckers are too expensive to go out and buy new ones. These were the hockey puck kind and the mounts were supposed to be water cooled, and took up more space than plain old mecnical solinoids, so I never bothered.
Do you use a similar planetary reduction to the Warn?
