The series III is not a real series.

Hey! I resent that remark! I also resemble it as well, but that's only because I haven't convinced my wife I need a Series II! And there isn't enough room in the stable at the moment (I'm pressuring her to move to a place with a five car garage!)
And it's not a plastic dash, it's padded
As far as what you're looking for, well, it depends on just that - what type of Series are you looking for? If you're looking for a no-kidding project truck then there are tons of those around. If you're looking for something to do a rolling restoration on then your choices start slimming some.
Exmods are sweet, and rare so that makes it even cooler but all the guys I know running MOD trucks gripe about how tough it is to get parts for them. I've been seeing a lot of Series II pickups popping up for sale here and there more and more.
A lot of it is going to depend on what you're looking at doing with the truck and how you want to run it. If I were to do it again though, I'd be looking for something with an overdrive and both tops at a minimum because I like running open in the summer.
