before the flaming starts...i think tubes welded to the body will do fine in the east... we have more mud than rocks...better than the plastic rockers, like mine has lol!!! but if you have the time and materials, work on them some more, with some mounting points going to the frame, you never know when you may need to cross something, like a big ol fallen tree, and I will trade my left huevo for the welder and steel that I had access to when I worked outside my old dad's coal mine back in the eighties...nice ride!!!
