Coolant Low, Reduced Performance messages
Hey, this is a weird one. Had a number of problems with my '05 LR3 SE when we first got it, but its been pretty solid lately. I have been getting a Coolant Low warning message (but no light) for a while at startup, but the reservoir looks about right. Anyway, I took it in for its 40,000 mile service, and they noted the warning and said they would take care of it. Great!
So, I got it back about two weeks ago, still have the coolant message. No biggie, there don't seem to be any other symptoms. Suddenly, today, I get a message that says "Reduced Engine Performance" (manual says I don't need to do anything???) and I notice the temperature gauge is climing higher than I've seen it. I can hear the fans, and performance is definitely reduced. I park it, and check the overflow reservoir once it cools down...its fine. Drive it again, and the same thing happens. No other warnings or indicators. Very strange. I guess I'll be taking it back to the dealer, although its not that close and I'm not too excited about the possibility of overheating the thing...
Anyone else seen this? What are the "normal" cases for the engine performance reduced message?
TIA,
jds
