To be able to engage/disengage at will from the comfort of the cockpit is worth it to me, but I only paid $150 for mine. I've used it a few times here in the city during some snow storms where the side streets were covered in deep snow, but the mainstreets had been plowed down to the pavement. It was certainly nice to activate the lock through the deep stuff and then shut it off on the pavement.
