The window for SAE to call a 5-30 is huge.... In fact, the top end of SAE spec for 5-30 overlaps the SAE spec for 10-30...Depending on brand.
Lets say brand X 5-30 is at the Top end of thickness for a 5-30
And Brand Y 10-30 is at the bottom of the spec for 10-30..
The 5-30 WILL be thicker.

Did I state anything about your 5w30 claim, but now that you have brought it up, you have never been able to provide an example of this within a specific range of oil. That is, oils of a similar price range or produced by companies with similar quality reputations. I have never suggested putting cheap crap oil into any motor, no matter what the grading. Get into the real world rather than just some theory you read somewhere. 10W30 is a pretty low grade oil, so I am not sure why anyone would be using it anyway.
