Hi., sounds like you are going to need a starter soon. I also havd a D-1 (94) and I had a similar problem. I checked fuses,wiring, ignition etc... and ended up getting the stock starter rebuilt. When you look at the starter, you will notice heat shields attached to the exhaust pipe., these shields are to keep the starter from expansion/contraction, but the starters will fail in time.
If you have a stock starter, (such as mine) I would advise you to pull it off and have a tech bench test it for you. good luck., it's a &*#(&#. dan
