1979 diesel fuel filter
hey all, this site is full of info and i am glad to have some input from all.
i am putting this first in order for you to avoid reading the bs below but the backstory will make you laugh. i left to drive home and 30 miles into the drive i start blowing white smoke, my heart dropped. I AAAd it to my buddies garage where she has sat for the last 2 weeks. I did a pressure test on the engine and the seals seem to be good on the engine. i figured it has to be a problem with the fuel, pull the fuel filter off and it was full of water. I emptied the gas tank and alas, more water, i am not sure how long she was sitting but there would be no problem if she ran on unstable fuel and water.
so i got a new fuel filter installed it, put in ten gallons of diesel and now i cant get her to turn over at all. I have the manual but i am not quite sure what to do to bleed the lines or prime it or whatever you do to get the air out of the lines...
here is the back story:
I just bought a 1979 series III 109 diesel, right hand drive Pickup.
I am super stoked on her, she has been a little painful to the pocket book in getting her presentable for my wife. did i mention that i have her at a friends house and she doesn't know i spent our hard earned money on it yet? I was thinking about putting a bow on it and bringing it home for mothers day. this might be the straw that breaks the camels back but whatever, i love my truck.
everything looked great when i bought it, minimal corrosion, solid bulkhead and new frame. It is 95% complete, nothing appears to be missing that would be hard to replace. (the rear curved glass seals, one headlight bezel, a couple plates to cover the bed gas tank access, and a new tire mount in the bed) just bought 4 new old man emus and installed them, should ride better no?
my problem, i had a fun time test driving her around the guys property i bought it from, and up and down the street a 10 or 15 miles. I bought it and thought my rover days would be a plenty.
so any help will be greatly appreciated.
