I put Michelen X-Ice on the car this winter, on ice it was as good if not better than the LR. I'll check out the Hancooks for winter, if I do decide to go with a dedicated winter I think I would just go with a 16' (probablly easier to find and cheaper). I normally go to the Tire Rack and have them shipped, with the CDN dollar the way it is normally it beats the tire shops hands down even after I get them onto a rim.
