Default Help DiscoMike1 Won't start...

I have been monitoring (lurking) all the forums since before we got our Disco. My wife wanted one and thanks to all I read we found a nice 2000. Thanks to all the great advice on the forums (mainly from DiscoMike) I have been able to handle all the repairs myself. Now I need help.

The Disco II is a 2000 and has 79000 miles. A few weeks ago my wife called and said it had the M & S lights flashing and it had no power. She drove it to me at workI started it and saw the lights so I researched it and decided to check the battery. It then would not start, just cranked, but would not turn over. I pulled the battery and had her take it in to be tested. It was not in great condition so I got a new battery and installed it. A few days later it would not start again, cranked but no turn over. After forum searching, and consulting the shop manual I determined it was the Crank Position Sensor. Replaced that and still no start. More forum search and found one similar case that turned out to be spark plugs. My plugs looked awful, so replaced them as well, and found a K&N filter in place, so pulled it and put in a stock paper filter. now, it still won't start. Broke down and bought a code reader, but it does not register any codes. It does not seem to finish reading, works fine on other cars but not the rover.

The shop manual says after replacing the CPK the adaptive values will need to be reset using testbook. Everyone else who has replaced theirs has not mentioned needing to do this, but I wonder if it is wh mine is not starting. I do not have a local dealr, and the local garage (Chico, CA) does not have Testbook. I also came across a bulletin regarding a corroded starter inhibitor/neutral safety switch that involves replacing the gearbox harness. Maybe this could be the problem? DiscoMike, I would really appreciate a hand. Thanks
