Not having really dealt with DAP before, I don't see the referenced posts proving much, especially if you read the entire account. Shocks snap, but 2" longer shocks with 3" longer springs. Leaking head gaskets, but no mention of the heads being tested for warpage. The only thing I ever bought from them was an OD. It broke after not terribly long, but it isn't their fault. When I looked inside, it appeared to be a design flaw in the synchro. I welded and ground it and it has been fine since. DAP didn't make the OD, the shocks or the head gasket. They have no control over the manufactures quality control or how a product is used. I don't think other parts places are any better or worse. I had an RN reman engine in my Series. It started smoking after a long life, so I was going to bore it out. Nope, it was .060" over! Normally .040 is the max people take them to, and no one sells .060 rings. Is this RN's fault? No as they didn't rebuild the engine and had no way of knowing how it was rebuilt.
Now I'm not saying it isn't in a companies best interest to take care of the customer no matter who's fault it is, but any more, there are way too many people taking advantage of such policies when their own abuse is what led to the failure. Then we end up paying for it as the retailers have to raise their prices to cover their arses.
