A couple months back I broke down in brooklyn. I called t-a and they came to get me (I was more than 100 feet off of the BQE exit). I asked the driver of the truck about the 100 feet policy and why triple a can't pick me up if I break down on a highway. He told me that especially along the Jersey Turnpike and around highways in the New York area, the towing company that has a contract with the highways is all mobbed up and that is why there is this strange arrangement. So while the card is a great investment and has certainly paid for itself, it doesn't cover you as fully as I believed it would in what would seem like a standard situation where you would be covered. i think they use the 100 ft. excuse for many situations. i was stuck in some mud off a dirt road. and they said they would Not come get me because i was more than a 100 ft from a paved road.
and i told them their truck would not get stuck. its just a dirt road, im right off it. whatever!
