The suspension compressor is on the outside of the frame, right side...about mid-ship...it's enclosed in a steel "box". The air tank is across the way on the left side.
Mine has been converted to coil suspension, but still retains all of the equipment...but that's about all the help I can give...however I don't think the pump should run continuously.
I paid $1800 for a 94 LWB with a blown tranny, dying tranfer case and 80k miles...everything else works great...interior perfect (minus the headliner)...couple rust spots on the tailgate and hood...so $5000 sounds a little high to me.
