Yup.. one of the big problems with microsoft windows; bad hardware companies not complying fully with standards or not bothering to test their hardware and software.
Software interfering with hardware drivers and vice versa. This works with that but not the other.
Its even problems with other unix systems.
BUT apple (just a well supported version of unix) controls the environment in which OSX resides. Can't see it being that stable on a "random" system.. all your drivers would be cobbled by someone, or generic drivers rendering all that fancy hardware "generic". at least ubuntu would be legal and supported.
