John, I just took apart the heater box on a '93 tonight. There is a resistor for the heater blower motor inside the box and a resistor for the A/C blower motors under the cowl. Since the heater blower motor is the same for your '90 as it is on the '93 I would have to say that you should expect the same, two separate resistor packs.
Also, you are correct, the connector on the blower end has five or six wires but the connector on the harness end has just two wires (black and orange IIRC). The other colors are for the resistor. Don't worry, just connect the two. It is OK!
